Our Philosophy

Financial Planning Through Life’s Transitions

Life rarely unfolds exactly as we expect. Careers change. Families grow. Health changes. Retirement approaches. Loved ones are lost. New opportunities appear when we least expect them. These transitions affect far more than our finances — they influence our priorities, responsibilities, and hopes for the future.

We believe thoughtful planning provides confidence during life’s most important moments. Rather than focusing on transactions, we focus on understanding each person’s circumstances, goals, and values so that every recommendation supports a broader plan.

This philosophy extends beyond individual client meetings. Through the Beacon Initiative, community conversations, educational resources, and Lunch & Learn presentations, TWMC seeks to understand the financial questions people are asking today and transform those conversations into practical education that helps Canadians make better decisions.

The lighthouse has become the symbol of that mission. It doesn’t remove uncertainty or prevent life’s storms. Instead, it provides a trusted point of reference — a reminder that even when the path ahead changes, thoughtful guidance can help us move forward with confidence.

Meet David

David B. Stiglick, BA

Founder, TWMC

For more than two decades, I worked as a Branch Manager with RBC Insurance, helping Canadian families navigate their financial lives and mentoring the advisors who served them. It was rewarding work — but it also taught me something I didn’t fully appreciate until later: the best financial planning has very little to do with products, and everything to do with understanding people.

I saw it again and again. Families preparing for retirement, grieving the loss of a spouse, selling a business, or facing a health diagnosis that changed everything overnight. No two journeys looked the same, and the ones that went well almost always had one thing in common — someone took the time to listen before recommending anything at all.

Life eventually handed me my own significant transitions to navigate. That experience changed how I think about this work. It’s one thing to understand life’s transitions professionally. It’s another to have lived through them and discovered that some of life’s greatest lessons are learned while you’re still finding your way.

That’s what led me to found TWMC — The Wealth Management Centre. Today, I combine more than two decades of professional experience with a planning-first approach built on listening first, educating always, and helping people navigate life’s transitions with greater confidence.

Meet Lexi

Lexi
Therapy Dog in Training · Retired Racing Greyhound

Lexi is a retired racing greyhound who recently joined my family from Australia. She is currently training to become a certified therapy dog, continuing a journey that began several years ago with my previous greyhound, Cassie.

For more than three years, Cassie and I had the privilege of volunteering in the stroke recovery and cancer units at Belleville General Hospital. Those visits taught me something that now shapes how I approach every client conversation: during life’s most difficult moments, people need to be heard before they need a solution.

Cassie passed away this past Christmas, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of compassion and comfort. Today, Lexi is beginning her own journey — a continuation of that same mission, not a new one.

The lessons I learned alongside Cassie continue to shape the way I think about financial planning. Whether someone is facing illness, retirement, the loss of a loved one, or another major life transition, the first step is rarely a financial product. It’s listening. It’s understanding. It’s walking alongside people before offering direction. That belief is at the heart of TWMC.

You’ll be heard before decisions are made.

Our first conversation isn’t a sales pitch — it’s an opportunity to understand where you are in life, what’s changed, and what matters most to you today.

From there, the focus is on clear explanations instead of jargon, understanding the planning considerations that may apply to your circumstances, and providing education and ongoing guidance as you consider the decisions ahead.

Life doesn’t stand still, and neither do the financial decisions that come with it. As circumstances shift — retirement, loss, a new chapter, a change in health or family — new questions and planning considerations can emerge.

TWMC is built around education, planning conversations, and ongoing guidance — grounded in the belief that the numbers only matter because of the life they’re meant to support.

Begin the Conversation

Every plan starts with a conversation.

If you’re facing a life transition — or simply want a second, honest perspective on where things stand — we’d be glad to listen.
